Our Collaborations
APRIL is actively working with various NGOs on several initiatives to protect the natural resources in Indonesia. Here are some examples of our collaborations :
The Forests' Dialogue (TFD)
APRIL has been working closely with The Forests’ Dialogue (TFD), an ad-hoc group of individuals from diverse interests and regions that are committed to the conservation and sustainable use of forests, on various initiatives in our common belief and support of responsible forest management. In March 2007, APRIL hosted TFD’s dialogue on Intensively Managed Plantation Forests in Indonesia, welcoming nearly 70 international and Indonesian stakeholders for three days of intensive discussion on Indonesian plantation forestry.
On 8 October 2008, TFD launched a consensus statement “Beyond REDD : The Role of Forests in Climate Change”. This statement is the result of a 10-month period which brought together over 250 representatives of governments, forestry companies, environmental and social groups, among many others. APRIL was closely involved in the development of the statement; a consensus from leaders who recognise that forests and forestry sector offer a unique linkage between sustainable development and climate change mitigation. APRIL fully supports this statement and its principles. We invite you to find out more about the consensus statement “Beyond REDD : The Role of Forests in Climate Change”.
